Abstract

Cruelty based on caste prejudice has occurred in Indian culture throughout history. Caste has been explored from a variety of perspectives by academics, with sociology and anthropology serving as essential disciplines in the process. Movie, as an art form and as a mirror of society, reflects many elements of society via a cinematic lens, providing the sociocultural topic with an entirely different frame to perceive and study the society in which the people live, where social issues such as Casteism occur. The notion of caste has been portrayed in Indian film through many perspectives and meanings such as segregation and discrimination, honour killing in cases of inter-caste marriage, and differences in difficulties in different locales such as rural and urban ones and individuals grappling with it. This research attempts to comprehend how the Tamil film depicted marginalization. Then research focuses on how the Tamil film Vada Chennai used the notion to depict the practice and prejudice associated.
