Abstract

Equal opportunities are essential for the economic growth of a country. The significance of women’s role in development has been recognised by the Government of India right from its first Five Year Plan. The Department of Science and Technology (DST) had made tremendous efforts in attracting women researchers and scientists towards S&T by initiating several schemes and programmes. Hence this research paper aim to evaluate policies and programmes implemented for women scientists in India with a special focus on Tamilnadu.
