Abstract

Globalisation itself has the word ‘global’. It’s not limited to a region or a nation but is something international. Especially after the globalisation of globalisation (the disintegration of the USSR), the world has been becoming a giant web of complex interdependence. Technology has a big, or major role to play in the entire process. The question here is who owns that technology? The world we are in is witnessing shaping powers through shifting paradigms- power is shifting and paradigms are changing. Though the forces of globalisation shifted from mere human-based postal systems and pigeons to the internet, blockchains, and even metaverse, something is common here- monopoly. First, it was the civilisations and empires. It was followed by the states, militaries, and tech giants. As expected, will the technology of blockchains pave the way for a historic shift of power- the beacon of globalisation- to the hands of individuals? Or will Metaverse push it off?
