Abstract

Women's health issues pose a great concern over the policy-makers and the society for a long period of time.  State legislatures see the importance of women’s health and have often been forced to consider the issue in their budgets. With the efforts of World Health Organisation and of the Central and State Governments, there had been several policies, schemes and health care mechanisms on women's health, but the governments often fail to address the issue as the root cause of the problem is socially constructed.

Throughout their life span, women become victims of health related issues, physical, sexual and psychological. There is a direct correlation between health and lives of women. Social status of women often makes them subservient and vulnerable throughout their life, leading to heavy toll on their health and well-being.

The neglect that prevails over women's health is one of the subtle violence that women face pervasively. The paper aims to empirically analyse the social attributes of women’s health after marriage and the causes and effects of the same.
